WALES BONNER launches jewellery & footwear

|
Written By:

Wales Bonner is no stranger when it comes to creating a hit shoe. The London-based label’s on-going collaboration with Adidas Originals, which began in 2020, has positioned the designer as a secret assassin in the footwear department (her ‘70s-inspired trainers have become de-facto kicks for fashion folk in London and beyond).

Now the designer expands her expertise with her debut in-house accessories line, launching with footwear and jewellery collections. Debuted as part of the brand’s SS23 collection held in Pitti Uomo, the inaugural drop – made in Italy alongside Himco – features elevated babouche slippers made from calfskin, suede and calf hair, available in a variety of finishes, including zebra and leopard print. The designer has also unveiled a block-heeled loafer with a hand-woven textile wrapping and square-toe leather sandals.

Working with artisans in Krobo, Ghana, the label has worked on a jewellery collection, too. Fashioned from recycled glass beads and eggshell disc beads, custom casted silver and locally sourced freshwater pills, each necklace is completely unique. Quietly elegant, the accessories line marks the next chapter in Wales Bonner’s ascension.
