Ever wanted to own a slice of Vivienne Westwood history? Soon you can. This June, Christie’s will be auctioning 200 items from the late designer’s personal wardrobe. Each piece due to go under the hammer was handpicked by Westwood’s husband and creative partner, Andreas Kronthaler, spanning clothes, jewellery and accessories that have been accumulated over a 40 year period.

All proceeds from the auction will be split across a series of organisations Westwood supported throughout her lifetime of activism including Amnesty International and Greenpeace, alongside The Vivienne Foundation, launched following the designer’s passing in December 2022 in honour of the causes close to Westwood’s heart. The foundation is split into four pillars: climate change, stop war, defend human rights and protest capitalism. Ahead of the sale, which begins June 25, Christie’s will stage an exhibition at its London HQ, open free to the public, that will showcase each stellar piece due to go to auction (June 14-24).

Speaking to WWD, Adrian Hume Sayer, Christie’s director of Private and Iconic Collections, commented: “[The exhibition] will celebrate her extraordinary vision with a selection of looks that mark significant moments not only in her career, but also in her personal life. This will be a unique opportunity for audiences to encounter both the public the private world of the great Dame Vivienne Westwood and to raise funds for the causes in which she so ardently believed.”

Highlights to the auction span knitted frocks, 18^th century-style corsetry, and pieces pulled from the Great Dame of British Fashion’s most legendary collections. Get marking those calendars, this isn’t to be missed.
