TEN TALKS TO TOMMY HILFIGER ON HIS AUSTRALIAN TAKEOVER

If Tommy Hilfiger was to pick one person who is making a difference in the world right now, he would choose Demna Gvasalia. "I admire Demna, who is doing Balenciaga," he told us last night at the Tommy Hilfiger extravaganza. Hmm, he's got us thinking… We will watch this space. It's the first time Mr Hilfiger has been to Australia, so a party was in order. To Jones Bay Wharf we went, lit up in red and blue and music pumping, just how he likes it. Tommy Hilfiger's soundtrack to his whirlwind takeover in Australia is the Wizard of Oz. It's what he and wife, Dee Hilfiger, have been humming on their trip from Los Angeles to Sydney. The world of Hilfiger lies somewhere over a red, white and blue rainbow, way up high. He is the wizard, the wonderful wizard of America, if ever a wiz there was. When we ask him what an Australian-inspired collection would look like, he says: "Surf, cool, casual, sporty. For men's, definitely surfers, and for women, real beach type clothes." Bring it on. And so we danced all night in a New York City style loft space. Tommy has always known how to throw a party. The land of Tommy Hilfiger is oh so merry.
