Written By:

Ksubi and P.E Nation - name a more iconic Australian duo. Two of our favourite brands have joined forces on a 16-piece capsule collection of womenswear, fusing Ksubi's '90s-inspired denim and silhouettes with P.E Nation's graphic street-sport style. We spoke to the face of the collaboration, Australian model Shanina Shaik, about the collection, motherhood and music:

Shanina, Ksubi, PE Nation - an Australian extravaganza! How do you feel being chosen as the face of this clever collaboration? How did you feel in the clothes?

"I’m beyond grateful to have been chosen for such a clever collaboration between Ksubi x PE Nation. Two super cool Australian brands coming together and making an impact. I'm excited for everyone to experience and have these looks in their closet! Many of these looks reflect my personal style and it felt so cool to be a part of an Australian celebration!"

You look great in the campaign. Did you have a fave ‘fit?

"Definitely- I loved the 90’s inspired looks. I’m obsessed with this era of style and draw inspiration from this decade for my day-to-day wardrobe. The detached jean and bra would be one of my favourite looks, but I also love a “denim on denim” moment."

If this collection were to be a song or album, what would it sound like to you?

"That’s a great question! I think ‘Bad Habit’ by Steve Lacy would complement the collaboration perfectly."

Better yet, who’s on Shanina’s ultimate playlist right now?

"My boyfriend manages music artists, so I have the ultimate privilege to hear some incredible music in the early stages of production. Right now, I'm listening to the ‘love, damini’ album by Burna Boy on repeat."

You have been getting ready for motherhood. Congratulations! Who or what is inspiring your style right now?

"I’m in this new chapter of my life and I’m loving every moment. I had an amazing pregnancy and enjoyed being pregnant. My current style is all about comfort. I am wearing a lot of boyfriend and slouchy jeans, oversized tees, matching sweat sets, boots, and sneakers."

Do you go back to Australia often? How does it influence/inspire you?

"I always come back to Australia when I can find a moment. I love being home. The effortless-easy Australian style inspires me."

What’s next?

"Taking care of my newborn and becoming a mother is an important priority in my life right now. I’m also currently working on my own brand at the moment- I hope by next year I’ll have something on the shelves. It’s been a lot of work, but worth it, and I am excited for the world to see."
