TEN QUESTIONS WITH LAMBRINI GIRLS

|
Written By:

Britain’s finest, Lambrini Girls, are touching down in Sydney this weekend. The Brighton punk duo of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar, she/they) and Selin Macieira (bass, she/they), will bring their live show to Sydney's Metro Theatre. Lambrini Girls' dedication to confronting societal issues and social critique has affirmed the duo as one of the best live bands to come out of the UK in recent years. Ahead of the show, we spoke to the band about being Lambrini Girls:

We’re so excited for your to bring your show to Australia. How has the Lambrini Girls show evolved over the last year of touring the most recent album?

I think it’s more or less the same but with even more stupid shit. More mosh pits, more screaming, more beer, and more swearing.

Speaking of touring, has there ever been a mind-blowing show you saw together that shifted how you approached your own shows?

The Wiggles live. That changed everything.

Which song do you love performing the most live?

Mr Lovebomb!

Have you been making new music? Has there been an environment that has been especially conducive to your writing?

We can neither confirm or deny new music. Usually our songwriting process involves many crates of beer and lots of cigarettes.

How do you think being from the UK continues to influence your sound in this chapter of your career?

As the UK is a political nightmare at the moment, it’s very easy to draw observations and put them into songs.

We love your visuals and style. What’s been inspiring the Lambrini Girls as of late?

Hot Wheels and Civil Resistance.

Who is an artist, producer, director etc that you'd love to collaborate with?

DJ Khaled,

Which other artists are you excited about at the moment? What have you been listening to?

NPCEDE, Big Wett and Delivery.

What’s something that’s important to you aside from music? Something you want to use your platform for right now?

I think it’s important to use any platform you have to encourage and mobilise others to give a shit about what’s happening in the world right now. From the genocide happening in Palestine to Sudan and the Congo.

What’s next?

We will be the first band to play in space.
