TEN LOVES: RUTT BUCKET HAT

|
Written By:

Behold, the perfect summer sustainable bucket hat. Rachel Rutt has released the first RUTT ready-to-wear piece: a hand crocheted unisex bucket hat made out of 100% Pima Cotton in Peru. With a focus on waste reduction meeting luxury artisan craftsmanship, Rachel is creating the pieces she wishes she could find. Here, she tells us about the RUTT mission and creating her ultimate hat:

“I’ve had a love affair with knitting ever since I picked up my first needles at age 15. The innate capacity of knitwear to be reinvented, renewed, on top of its reputation for longevity has always compelled me. I created RUTT to make pieces I wish I could find in the world, and at the level of quality that they deserve to be made. For me, it’s all about the handiwork: the people who knit it, but also where and how the fibres for the yarn are grown, sourced, and processed. These details are what constitute true value, and offer a heritage that only becomes richer as time passes.

“This collection is my first collaboration with waste led initiative the Endery, based in Lima, Peru. The specialty crochet workshop in which these hats are made is a second generation, family run business. Each hat is hand made from 100% Pima Cotton dead stock. Choosing to use these dead stock fibres directly diverts landfill. Hand making means supporting our global artisan community, and that the practice retains a low carbon footprint. These hats combine the foundational values of RUTT: hand-made, gentle, transparently produced, heritage knitwear, made to stand the test of time.”

The Antena crocheted hats are available to shop now.
