RALPH LAUREN CATWALK

|
Written By:

One of my first memories of experiencing a Ralph Lauren show was in the late 80s. It took place at 550 Seventh Avenue where Ralph Lauren occupied the whole building. They have since left. It’s hard to imagine now shows taking place in high-rise office blocks, but that’s what happened back then in New York City, in the garment district. It was a great time the end of the 1980s, although AIDS had already changed so much and devastated an entire community.

We used to squish into elevators to go and see the latest from the American powerhouse. Ralph Lauren Catwalk authored by the clever fashion journalist and 10 contributor, Bridget Foley, is released today and contains over 1300 original runway photographs. It is a fantastic documentation of Mr. Lauren’s extraordinary career and lens. After all, he is the godfather of American ranch style and preppy dressing, which is having a major comeback right now. It’s one for the library. See a sneak peek into the book in the gallery below.
