A brilliant, bold celebration of the of the Hermès Kelly bag is coming to Sydney in the form of fine jewels. Ooh la la. The legendary bag becomes jewellery in the Hermès Kellymorphose jewellery exhibition, which features a collection of tribute jewellery by Pierre Hardy. Chains in solid silver and snow white gold shine, and diamonds sparkle, taking on the Kelly’s trapezoidal architecture, baguette cut and shimmering. “The Kelly bag elevates its functional components: the side straps, and an elemental clasps consisting of a turnlock, a plate and four studs,” says Pierre Hardy. “I do the same with Kelly jewellery, by reinterpreting or disrupting its original lines.” The exhibition will take place at Hermès Sydney, The Trust Building at 155 King Street from today until May 3rd.
