FENDI: AW23
“It all started with Delfina," said Kim Jones. "There’s a chicness but a perversity to the way she twists Fendi, which is what I love.”
Tiny dark oval glasses. Satin jackets over satin kilt over satin pants. School territory maybe but much more sophisticated, grown up, because yes, this girl has done with finishing school, she’s off to work, she’s going to run the world in subverted masculine suiting. It was a good collection full of great pieces. Knits with cut out shoulders. Pleated skirts layered over minis. Neat tailored jackets. A clever lace dress that moved between a slip and lingerie and the desk. We love a deconstructed power uniform - and those special new folding Fendi Multi bags, too. This was Kim Jones for Fendi - inspired by a Fendi. His Fendi muse is the ultimate Delfina Delettrez Fendi and so it hit the sweet spot of nostalgia for her inevitable school reunion and the way it is now- a life of responsibility, ideas and inheritance. No need to Google her wardrobe, it was all here. It powered into a killer red finale with Twin Peaks playing as the soundtrack to her life, and we remembered Laura Palmer all over again and special agent Dale Cooper. We await the Jones-designed Delfina bag...
