10 Things We Want From JW Anderson’s Rebrand

Just over a week ago, Jonathan Anderson made history. Serving up his debut Dior men’s collection with a muted flurry of iconoclast shorts, coats and capes, the Irish designer officially became the first sole creative director of the French maison since Monsieur Dior. A colossal job, as you might expect, it comes with a total of 10 collections a year – with the work he’s doing at his own brand, JW Anderson, piling up on top of that. If there’s any man up for the job, it is Anderson, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours from swirling around what his plans are for his namesake label. Will it shutter? Will it stay? Will he still take to the runway? Today, our curiosities were quelled. JW Anderson is getting a completely new concept.
Becoming something akin to a modern-day cabinet of curiosities, the new JW Anderson will focus on “objects of elevated craftsmanship” – so homewares and artisanal goods – as well as curated fashion collections, with a magpie sensibility centred around this idea of collecting and curating. In the coming months, the designer will be introducing a wealth of limited-edition products in collaboration with UK-based companies to the brand, including everything from honey made in Houghton Hall to marino glassware hand-perfected by Marcantonio Brandolini. It will be a home for craft, art and of course fashion, all curated by Anderson. Moving away from the catwalk, his clothes will be released in newly-designed Anderson stores which will also be selling diamond jewels, garden tools and furniture.
Commencing this exciting new venture for the label, Anderson has called upon friends of the brand – including Luca Guadagnino, Bella Freud, Gray Sorrenti and Oliver Sim – to model a resort collection of “twisted classics”, looking to some of the brand’s hero pieces as a prelude to “new evolutions” that are due to drop September 1.
When the new website launches, there will be around 560 items up for the picking, from hand trowels and decanter tags to teacups and armchairs, as well as argyle jumpers, twisted trousers, pointelle tanks, Loafer bags and more. Mark your calendars and keep your eyes peeled. JW Anderson is stepping into a new era. But in the meantime, here’s how you can bring a little Anderson magic to your humble abode – whimsical daydreams not included.
Silver 19th Century Bat Decanter Tag
Bring a bit of gothic charm to your drinks cabinet with this Silver 19th Century Bat Decanter Tag. Debossed with elegantly eerie “port” lettering across photorealistic metalwork, it’s the perfect way to add a whisper of the macabre to cocktail hour. Because why settle for ordinary labels when your wine can come with a side of midnight drama?

Vegetable charms
In the era of charms – for bags, for shoes, for anything that’ll sit still long enough – JW Anderson goes gloriously off-menu. With its delightfully oddball vegetable charms, your accessories get a playful farm-to-arm twist. Clip on the cute, crochet carrot for a splash of mischief, or the perky cauliflower for a touch of surreal whimsy. The radish charm? It practically winks at passersby. One of your five a day – fashionably served.

Irish Linen tea towels
Where JW Anderson is concerned, craft comes in full force. (While at the helm of Loewe Jonathan Anderson has been a tireless champion of the maison’s annual Craft prize celebrating artisans from around the globe). And so under this new brand identity, comes a graphic triptych of Irish tea towels – “Art”, with a cotton stripe of blue, “Craft”, with a cotton stripe of red, and “Peach”, with a cotton stripe of green. Keeping your kitchen looking chic and the cutlery sparkling, these towels do it all. Drying your dishes never looked so suave.

Postcard Tea – 250g Dawn Til Dusk
It’s midday; you’re frazzled and flagging. The emails won’t stop, your stomach’s staging a protest and frankly, you’re in dire need of a cuppa’. Enter the JW Anderson Postcard Tea, a charming little pick-me-up in the flavour Dawn Til Dusk. Consider it a proper brew with a side of style – because even when the day’s gone pear-shaped, at least your tea’s dressed to impress.

Wedgwood Coffee Cup and Saucer with Wedgwood Teacup and Saucer
But what to drink from? JW Anderson has teamed up with the venerable Wedgwood to release limited-edition bone china cups and matching saucers, each trimmed in that signature jasperware blue and playfully stamped with Anderson’s unexpected silhouettes. Whether you’re pouring a bold espresso or a fragrant Dawn Til Dusk, these pieces lend your brew a dose of sartorial swagger. After all, if you’re going to sip, you might as well do it in style.

Hope Springs’ Morris Armchair
The Morris Armchair by Hope Springs, the charming Sussex workshop run by carpenter extraordinaire Jason Mosseri, is essentially an invitation to plop down and stay a while. With its clever two-tiered backrest, eye-catching contrast wood and a perfectly bum-shaped seat that’s practically begging you to sink in, it’s comfort and character rolled into one delightful perch.

Vintage Gardening Tools
If you’re spending your summer knee deep in weeds and wildflowers then you’ll need the tools to get the job done so you don’t have to yank those stubborn roots by hand. Get your grip on a vintage gardening trowel or spade, engraved ever-so-delicately with JWA insignia. For bigger jobs, there’s a vintage gardening pitchfork ready to turn compost or perhaps, if you’re feeling a little mischievous, use it to keep the nosy neighbours off your lawn. For the less hands-on (guilty as charged!) the Antique French Watering Can is a darling little plant-powering apparatus that does the work for you. However you get down and dirty, JW Anderson has something to help. You grow girl!
Mackintosh Stool
Pop a squat, said JW Anderson with its Charles Rennie Mackintosh stool. Recreated based on an original design by a Mackintosh conservator in the same black-stained oak the legendary Scotsman was so fond of, this glossy, architectural seat brings a touch of art nouveau drama to any room. Also available in white and supple, a natural oak, it’s the kind of stool that winks at you and says, go on, take a load off.

Newspaper Coat
Your morning commute just got easier. As you dart into the underground, dodging elbows, coffee cups and yesterday’s regrets, you’ll find you no longer need to stop to grab the morning paper. That’s because, with the JW Anderson Newspaper Coat, your daily updates are built right in. A louche greatcoat cut from the finest black wool felt, it wraps you in headlines, gossip and a dash of intrigue – so you’ll always be the most informed (and best dressed) on the platform. Who needs breaking news alerts when you are the headline?

Anonymous Trade pullover
This one’s for the gay boys – and the boys they meet under cover of night. Dean Sameshima’s lavishly embroidered ‘Anonymous Trade’ pullover flirts shamelessly, serving up a subtle wink and a not-so-subtle nod to all those hush-hush encounters that come from late-night Grindr encounters. The artist, splitting his time between LA and Berlin, brings his signature cruisy, clandestine energy to this casual cotton piece: a navy blue number decked out with bold white and sky blue typography that all but dares someone to ask what it means. JW Anderson keeps it casual – but you both know exactly what’s up.
