TOD'S: SS26

This is where we make future plans that include: a soft tan leather shell dress cut with just the right volume and scuffing mid thigh; a leather shirt worn easily over a leather shift; a two tone leather take on a trench with exposed seams “inside out”. This collection was all about showcasing the spirit and seemingly effortless craftsmanship of Tod’s and driving it forwards. The heritage of the fabulous and fabled Gommino shoe inspired textures for the perforated and woven tops and details details throughout.

The new Wave Bags with their exposed mega stitching: excellent. The Di bag (named after Princess Diana who carried it), so '90s chic. The slip on loafers: grounded and great to stride around in for women on the go. The colours hit the right tones of saffron, amber, chalk, touches of Italian black all lending a summer warmth to these investment/want want pieces. The scene had already been set as we entered the mid century PAC museum of contemporary art, with artisans lined up making woven bags and Gomminos, tap tap tap went the cobbler’s tools.

Creative director Matteo Tamburini brings just the right energy to Tod’s managing to balance all this history (dating back to 1920) with youthfulness, relevance, clever ideas and giving us luxury star power. Finding this elusive combination is not easy but Tamburini’s design journey previously includes roles at Schiaparelli, Pucci and Bottega Veneta. We’re calling it the flex. And it feels pretty damn good.
