Marni has announced its new creative director: Belgian designer Meryll Rogge. Following the departure of Francesco Risso, who stepped down from the helm in June after nearly 10 years, Rogge’s appointment comes at the tail end of fashion’s directorial shake up.

“It is a great pleasure to welcome Meryll to Marni,” says brand CEO Stefano Rosso. “She is an exceptional creative talent and an inspiring woman, whose vision and expertise will play a key role in shaping the future of this amazing brand.”

A graduate of Antwerp Academy, Rogge saw her start as a womenswear designer for Marc Jacobs in New York between 2008 and 2015. Following her departure, she travelled back overseas, landing in Belgium to become the head of womenswear design at Dries Van Noten. Striking out on her own in 2020 to start her own eponymous label, Rogge attracted attention for her upcycled design work that typically pulls inspiration from specific time periods or places like the surrealist hometown of Salvador Dalí or the ‘80s punk scene. Since then, Rogge has been commemorated with awards like the 2025 Andam prize, and was named a finalist for the LVMH Prize in 2022, the Andam Prize in 2024 and the Woolmark Prize in 2025.
