Hermès: AW26
Welcome to the Hermès twilight zone. Nadège Vanhée had been thinking about the "liminal realm" (the title of the collection) and that sometimes eerie, sometimes hopeful time between day and night. We were immersed into a seriously down-to-earth show space - literally, the ground was covered in a deep green moss that offered some much needed mid-Paris fashion week grounding. The runway was elevated above us, and the models came out of an moon-like blue orb, another realm.
To Nine Inch Nails' A Warm Place, they strode past us in equestrian-inspired getup: knitted ribbed jodphurs, thigh-high super-smooth leather boots, teeny A-line mini skirts that zippered top to bottom, jackets with removable shearling collars, and leather that was slashed with more gleaming silver zippers, cheekily snaking up the behind and around. There was a toughness balanced with a sexy glamorousness to the Hermès woman this season. In her biker-like glossy leather pants, houndstooth jacket and swinging Kelly bag, she's feeling even more fearless, adventurous and daring, and has the perfect wardrobe for such an attitude.
