Inside La Noche, The Berlin Club Night

|
Written By:

For anyone heading to Berlin for pride weekend, there’s only one place where you should be kickstarting your CSD [Christopher Street Day] celebrations. On Friday, July 24, La Noche will take over Panorama Bar for a third year running, bringing with them a stacked line-up of some of the finest selectors based in Berlin, London and beyond.

Dance floor darlings will already be well aware of La Noche, which first started throwing parties in 2023. Based in the German capital, the night has since travelled everywhere from Barcelona, Rotterdam and Tbilisi, to Amsterdam for a Boxing Day party last year at Club Raum and a 24-hour marathon event at New York’s Nowadays in March.

La Noche was founded by DJs Byron Yeates, THC and Disk Cartel who strived to create a “no frills” party where the focus was on providing a stellar soundtrack that people would want to return to time again. They have been playing together for the last couple of years, as a trio but also in pairs [THC and Disk Cartel, who are siblings, also play together under the moniker S-candalo]. At La Noche, the group have carved out a distinct sonic palette that builds on ’90s house with plenty unexpected flourishes pulled from a pool of genres.

“La Noche ticks all my boxes and quenches all my thirsts, I’m so grateful to be a part of it” says resident DJ Angel D’lite. “For me, La Noche at OHM [club] is my favourite party. The music programming, the lighting and the vibe is always keeping me on the dance floor for the whole 12 hours.”

The next edition of La Noche is set to be one of its biggest, with Yeates gearing up to debut his live set in Berlin, while S-candalo will bring their bag of house thumpers for peak-time clubbing excellence. Joining them is a fierce line-up made up of Stella Zekri, Josh Caffé, Kilopatrah Jones and a B2B from Niks and Amaliah. “I love playing La Noche because the vibe is just so sexy, so fun and the crowds are always super up for it,” says Amaliah. “I love the promoters dearly and have shared such sweet moments with them too. The party stands out because of the collective energy everyone brings to ensure everyone has a good time.”

Before we get down to P-Bar next weekend, we sat down with Yeates, THC and Disk Cartel to chat all things La Noche.

How did La Noche come about?

La Noche came about after Radiant Love had come to an end as well as Venus Vessels (both projects we had been a part of). The three of us had already been working and playing together and wanted to continue doing so, establish our own night and identity (both sonically and visually). We loved working together so much and were inspired to keep that flow going, start a new journey and begin carving out our own path.

When starting the party, what were your goals?

Paramount to us was to create a project that reflects our musical influences dating back to the mid ’90s along with the core values of the scene at that time, as well as our shared love of queer nightlife in its various incarnations. We want to create an intimate affair that serves as a meeting & melting point for the local community based on our common interest in music and going out.

Why do you think the three of you work so well together?

We have a huge amount of respect and adoration for one another. We communicate well, we’re straight up, no bullshit and we get things done. We’re genuinely happy to see one another thrive and always want the best for one another and the party. Musically, visually and in every other way, it’s a match made in heaven.

For anyone who’s never been, what can you expect from the party?

Our party is a no-frills, no gimmicks, no bullshit kind of vibe with a solely music-based approach. Our main focus is on the soundtrack and looking after our community. Our crowd is fiercely loyal, in tune and knows how to party properly.

If you had to soundtrack La Noche with one track, what would you choose?

Tell us a little bit about the CSD party.

The line-up came together pretty naturally, the artists were our first choices for this night as each of them are huge contributors & cornerstones of their respective communities and beyond. What you can expect is an energy filled, sonically decadent bash with special b2bs & cherry on top is Byron’s debuting his live set in Berlin.

Why is it special for you to have it at Panorama Bar?

Panorama Bar has played such an important role in Berlin’s nightlife for decades, so doing La Noche there during CSD feels special. This is our third year hosting the Friday night of CSD, and that continuity means a lot and it feels like La Noche is becoming part of a tradition that people look forward to. What makes it even more special is that, for all three of us, Panorama Bar is where some of our most formative dance floor memories were made when we first started going out in Berlin. It’s a place that shaped the way we think about nightlife, just as entertainment, but as a space for connection, self-expression, and discovery.

To return there now with something we’ve built ourselves feels deeply rewarding. Being able to host our party there, especially on a weekend that celebrates queer culture and collective joy, is something we cherish and is without a doubt one of our highlights of the year.

What’s been the most memorable nights so far?

The most memorable parties so far must have been NYC at Nowadays where we hosted the 24h nonstop edition in March as well as our bday edition this and last year, having our residents Bella Sarris & Angel D’lite join.

Where do you want to take La Noche next?

We’ve never been interested in growing for the sake of growing. What’s important to us is protecting the feeling that makes La Noche what it is, a dance floor with a strong identity, where the music always comes first and people feel free to be themselves. At the same time, we’re excited to keep evolving. We love to bring La Noche to new cities and collaborate with communities and spaces that share a similar spirit, while continuing to develop what we’ve built in Berlin. The goal isn’t to replicate the party everywhere, but to create meaningful moments in different contexts without losing what makes it special.

The next La Noche party takes place Friday, July 24 at Panorama Bar, Berlin.
