GUCCI TO STAGE CRUISE SHOW IN LONDON

|
Written By:

Gucci’s coming to the Big Smoke! This morning, the Italian house unveiled it will stage its Cruise 2025 show in London on May 31. This will be the first Cruise collection designed by Sabato De Sarno, who settled on the location for “Gucci’s profound connection to the British capital, intrinsically linked to the brand’s heritage”.

The house founder, Guccio Gucci, was famously a luggage porter and liftboy at The Savoy hotel in 1987 – a central theme explored inside the Gucci Cosmos exhibition held at 180 The Strand at the end of last year, which toured through the house’s entire history.

Over the years, the house has travelled the world for its Cruise shows, famously shutting down Hollywood Boulevard, an ancient Roman cemetery in Arles, and most recently, Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, for its star-studded catwalks.

This isn’t the first time the house has brought its Cruise extravaganzas to British shores. In 2016, Gucci staged its Cruise 2017 collection inside the historic halls of Westminster Abbey, which doubled as a love letter to “British culture and aesthetics”.

Although it is yet to be announced where De Sarno is planning to stage the show, a press release states that Gucci’s decision to return to London “offers new opportunities to delve into the integral role the city has played in shaping the brand’s narrative throughout its storied history as a world-renowned symbol of Italian craft, visionary creativity, and innovative design.”
