Celebrating 10 years of Albus Lumen, we spoke to Marina Afonina about this milestone collection:

What was inspiring you when you were designing this collection? What was the catalyst?

The inspiration behind the collection is the journey of love for Albus Lumen over the last decade. Think all things Black Swans and Capote, Pretty woman and La Dolce Vita by Fellini.

What made the leap from the mood board into the collection?

White. Black. Crystals.

What emotions and thoughts from you are imbued in these pieces?

Growth, femininity and drama.

How is the DNA of Albus Lumen evolving?

We are maturing, Albus started as a girl grew into a woman and now she is a lady.

Recycling, repurposing, renewal. These are all important things in the world of 10. How do these apply to your work?

Albus continues to recycle hero styles over the last 10 years and give new life to them. We renew fabric each collection and apply them to different categories allowing them to have a new vision.

Who would you love to see wearing this collection? Which look would they be wearing?

Monica Bellucci. Black velvet crochet halter dress.

Which piece would you hope to be the ultimate collector’s item?

Crystal coat.

There are brilliant people to collaborate with Australia. Who has been part of your world with this collection?

Most of the team have been part of the Albus Lumen family for a decade. My dear friend Ryan Storer who continues to bring the magic with the jewellery collaborations, Filomena Natoli and here vision on makeup and my whole team.

What’s important to you aside from fashion? How would you like to use your platform?

My family, I want to inspire people to follow their passion and be authentically themselves.
