When you work with someone called Bananas Clarke, you have to be optimistic. He photographed the last story, Hope, with Sarah Starkey at the stroke of midnight. Team 10 is a group of well-loved contributors and the stories in this issue are a testament to them, as they got it done, beautifully, through various lockdowns. Many stories were shot in Melbourne, with the brilliant Abby Bennett dancing on tabletops.

It feels as though there is a sense of optimism emerging from the fashion darkness. People are being courageous, they’re prepared to be bold and take creative risks, which I have always loved. And so we played with some amazing jewels for this issue: Tiffany & Co.’s new Jewel Box collection; Cartier’s classic, most iconic and beloved pieces; and Bulgari’s incredible Serpenti jewels, which slithered in pink sands with Anna Pogossova and Peter Simon Phillips. Naturally, we lost our minds with romance, too, and all that Dior, edited by the number one fashion creative director Garth Allday Spencer. Allday every day.

London-based stylist Jamie-Maree Shipton popped over to Paris to play with Balenciaga. Tough times. And so it goes. Love the poets, Ella Noah Bancroft and Guyala Bayles, who wrote for this issue. Tkay Maidza graces one of our covers wearing the Gucci Aria collection, shot in LA by Mark Peaced (Yeah, Alessandro and Demna, great hack, thank you). We sent Emporio Armani (celebrating 40 years) to Mecca James-Williams in NYC and Mr Armani wrote for us. How many people does it take to make a magazine? A village. Lynn Ban, Phil Oh, Harris Reed, Derek Ridgers, Kennedi Carter, Simon Eeles, Jesse Lizotte – on and on, a whole slew of talent.
