NIKE’S ALL-AMERICAN BODE MAKEOVER

|
Written By:

For its latest release, Nike has teamed up with New York-based brand Bode to have a right old rummage in the archives. Giving the Astro Grabber – a 1970s football cleat that was one of the sportswear giant’s first silhouettes – an Americana-inspired makeover, the shoe will be released alongside a collegiate-like collection designed by Bode. Refreshed with a black leather and a natural canvas, the retro kicks pay homage to Nike’s rich sporting history. Inspired by this and the brand’s widespread cultural impact, the eponymous label’s founder, Emily Adams Bode Aujla, championed the partnership to remind fans of this significant history. Spanning menswear and womenswear, Nike’s first full-time employee Jeff Johnson was brought in as a guide to exactly what the designs were like back in the day. Authentic but with a contemporary twist, the collab will be available from April 18 on both Bode and Nike’s websites, as well as the Nike Snkrs app and selected retailers.
