BOTTEGA VENETA PRESENTS AW22 CAMPAIGN

Matthieu Blazy is setting his Bottega Veneta foundation. For his debut campaign, the designer is focusing on the house's intrinsic collaborative process and it's soft yet commanding power. "Bottega Veneta was created by a collective of artists," he says. "This is the history, and this is how we approached the campaign: together, with many different ways of seeing." Photographers, cinematographers and models come together in movement around Europe to see Blazy's AW22 collection through different lenses. The campaign took weeks to complete, journeying from Milan to Belgium and back to the southern coast of Italy. "Bottega Veneta is in essence pragmatic because it is a leather goods company," Blazy says. "Because it specialises in bags it is about movement, of going somewhere; there is fundamentally an idea of craft in motion. It is style over fashion in its timelessness. That is part of its quiet power." That quiet power is felt in the photographs of the original runway cast, photographed by young photographers who have never shot fashion before, and cinematographers from other areas in the arts.
