BALENCIAGA: SS27
All talk is that Pierpaolo Piccioli is leaving the Balenciaga building, and so it was hard to fathom this information, as he sent out a collection with pops of colour and clever Balenciaga proportions. Following his strong couture collection in July, this SS27 collection was a deeper dive into his Balenciaga codes.
Presented at the Tennis Club de Paris in a clinical white show space, with a towering sculpture by Aude Franjou inspired by the fundamental life of coral, it set the scene for an ecxploration into the “tenacity for life”. The sweeping sheer dresses as sassy and modern as anything had conviction, the bags were bold and brilliant, and the tiny wedge heeled shoes were added to the shopping list. Balenciaga has such an incredible history and this tapped nicely into it.
