And we’re off. Tom Ford is over it. Not fashion, no never, but the political climate dahling. After the show in his usual NYFW opening slot, Ford admitted he has never been influenced by moments in time, “but you can’t escape the news. I feel frustrated, agitated and exhausted. I don’t want to wear anything particularly challenging or particularly aggressive.” It is fair enough. So what does ease look like in Ford’s usual high powered glamour world? Gleaming wine grape purple satin trousers that also came in an army of shining colours and classic velvet suit jackets in fiery reds and a slew of army green on-a-mission looks, marching in embellished peep-toe pumps. The Tom Ford woman/man is undercover in the only way one who wears Tom Ford would be. Faux fur was worked onto fedoras and jackets that protected over hoodies. It’s hibernation season, but of course, one must look fabulous at all times.
