Prada in a New York Minute, a low-ceiling pulsating pink wonderland. This is Cruise 2020 and this girl ain’t messing around. Does she ever? The collection is “Seditous Simplicity” and if that isn’t the most Prada thing we’ve ever heard… Revolutionary, rebellious but simply her. No explanation needed. This girl is on a mission, powering through those New York City streets. To the library, of course. Bookish, literary in brass-buttoned blazers and uniformed navy blues and off to play basketball after she’s done studying – she’s carrying the Prada Bowling bag, re-edited for this collection, originally part of the Spring/Summer 2000 collection. We love a millennium moment, 20 years later. And more proof that the 2000s are back. They cruised by, swishing in loose pleated skirts that fell to shin-length, right above pastel coloured socks that peeked out of bowling-style high top laced sneakers. The sneaker isn’t over, it’s just got skinnier. Thankful. Hot flashes of orange on handheld backpacks and fiery reds on boa-style scarves of paillettes heightened the temperature. It’s Cruise, after all. Theoretical Girls’ ‘You Got Me’ was their roaring theme. Yes, Mrs Prada – you’ve got us. You’ve got us good.
