Seventy years ago, Japanese American artists Isamu Noguchi created a Peace Garden. It was designed in the grounds of Paris’ Maison de l’unesco to create a place for meditative calm. We like his style. Today, the Peace Garden is the setting in which Kaia Gerber roams free in Jonathan Anderson’s SS20 Loewe collection. It was a highly crafted collection, in which he called “a different kind of craft, which is ultimately historical,” filled with beautiful lace in pannier skirts, flares and opera capes. Photographed by Fumiko Imano (who also stars alongside her twin in the campaign), Gerber gets lost in this wonderland, which doubles up as a Kabuki theatre stage. Kabuki is intended as an escape from the every day and so it flows freely in the Peace Garden, extravagant costumes and all. Titled Publication #30, the campaign has been clothbound in a limited edition run of 1,200 hand numbered copies.
