Charles Rennie Mackintosh once said: “You must offer the flowers of the art that is in you – the symbols of all that is noble – and beautiful – and inspiring – flowers that will often change a colourless leaf – into an established and thoughtful thing.” Perhaps this is the design philosophy behind Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe, as the brand has announced a collection dedicated to the artist. It was in Glasgow, Scotland Mackintosh joined an architecture company in 1889 which led him to develop his own design language on the basis of materials of traditional Scottish architecture. To honour the architect, Loewe have created ready-to-wear, both menswear and womenswear and an accessories line drawing on Mackintosh’s designs from print techniques to interior design and artistic production. Jonathan Anderson doesn’t mess around. A classic Mackintosh rose covered Puzzle bag is part of the collection alongside knitwear and layered-stitched leather accessories, each with reference to part of Mackintosh’s process. A thoughtful collection. The Loewe Mackintosh collection will arrive in Loewe stores from December.
