The highly anticipated Nike x Off-White Rubber Dunk sneaker is landing in Australia tomorrow. The sneaker infused with Nike Pegasus and Nike Dunk elements has been created as a nod to skate culture and experimentation. With a exposed Air bag in the heel, the Air unit sits in a flexible, cored-out sole. “Highlighting the Air is part of the early logic of the collaboration,” said Virgil Abloh. “The shoe is about incorporating past ideas in a new era — designing with purpose and cultural relevance to come up with something new… It’s safe to say one of the greatest inventions in modern footwear is Nike’s approach to the idea of Air, and adding it as a cushioning element. Air is foundational to my understanding of what innovation can look like.” The Rubber Dunk has been created in three colour ways for three eras: the gold, to celebrate Atlanta ’96, the white as a celebration of colour schemes of the 2000s and the black because Abloh says so. “A black sneaker is my go-to for everyday life.” The sneaker will be available tomorrow at Supply Store.
