THE MET GALA HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY CANCELLED

Wednesday 20th May 2020

And that means 2020 is officially cancelled. After the announcement from the CFDA that the 2020 Met Gala would be postponed this year, it has now been cancelled. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Spring 2020 exhibition About Time: Fashion and Duration (the theme for the Gala) will still go ahead as planned, opening on October 29th 2020 to February 7th 2021. The first Monday in May had planned for Nicolas Ghesquière, Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Anna Wintour come together to cochair the night, with the theme inspired by Orlando, the 1992 Sally Potter film, based on Virginia Woolf’s novel. The Met Museum plans to reopen in mid-August.
