To the Château de Chenonceau we go! Digitally. Chanel have announced that the House will present its 2020/21 Métiers d’art collection on Tuesday December 1st, 2020 at the Château de Chenonceau in France, also known as the “Château des Dames”. The show will mark Virginie Viard’s second Métiers d’art collection. The Château des Dames is quite fabulous, built between 1514 and 1522 on the foundations of an old mill, it sits above the glittering river with brilliant gardens. A real life fairytale dream. The castle has a rich history with Catherine de’ Medici taking up residence after King Henry II died, Louise of Lorraine taking it over and falling into a state of depression after hearing of King Henry III’s death and more recently, becoming a hospital ward in the First World War and then being bombed by the Germans in the Second World War. In 1951 the Chateau was brought back to its former glory and all was well in the world. And now, a Chanel show. We expect Virginie Viard to bring the drama.
