Virgil Abloh is staying woke with the first instalment in a five part series for the men’s SS20 campaign. Going global, Abloh and the LV Men’s crew are taking on the five continents of the earth. First up: Africa, photographed by Viviane Sassen in Tangier and Chefchaouen, the glide divinely by the ocean, in front of epic sunsets and through blossoming grass dunes. It was the collection in which Abloh spoke of the “beauty of flowers” and here, it thrives in its ethereal element. Yes, the Louis Vuitton man has supernatural powers, energised by his armour. Abloh is focused on our footprints, which he defines as “the imprinted outline of a sole neutral to definitions of ethnicity and culture. The evidence of presence; the memory of impact,” as well as an reminder of our collective consciousness. He is in his element. Full bloom.
