Our one to watch, Commas by Sydney-based Richard Jarman has collaborated with MatchesFashion. The collection is inspired by Luc Besson’s 1988 French-free diving film Le Grand Bleu aka the underwater tale of friendship aka the Big Blue. But this ain’t about friendship, it’s about an eight-piece capsule collection for a holiday. New clothes and holidays, yes Commas knows what we want. And so on our next holiday we will be wearing Jarman’s water-paining sailboat print, oil-painting style and nautical stripes; silks printed and hand-dried (in Australia, represent) and Italian linen trousers and shirts. “Matches Vacation Studio is a perfect alignment for our brand,” said Jarman. “It’s a strong edit of resort-inspired garments that transcend holiday-wear so that they can be worn every day. This offering is as much about the water as it is about travel… It’s about comfort and convenience wherever you are, as much as appearance, which is what we aim to marry in each Commas collection. When you put on clothes like this, you can feel nostalgic for past holidays and excited about future ones, without having compromised functionality and comfort.” We’re ready for summer ’19 already.
