Coeur Battant. It’s a sexy, French way of saying “beating heart” and the fantastic name of the newest addition to the Louis Vuitton fragrance family. If we are discussing beating hearts, Nicola Roberts was the pulse to my favourite girl group Girls Aloud. With her indie-twinged vocals that could both cower into gentle falsettos and swell into raspy notes even Xtina would be envious of, she was the glue-holding everything together. She is a pillar of impeccable taste in all senses of the world – in fashion, in choppy fringes and if she is a connoisseur when it comes to scent, it would take just one whiff of Louis Vuitton’s Coeur Battant for her to be smitten.
Created by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud in his creative atelier in Grasse, the perfume is infused with a collection of raw materials inspired by the woody fields of flowers surrounding the atelier where it was made. The scent is a youthful breath of floral energy. Fresh pear is the base of the scent, underpinned with Egyptian jasmine, narcissus and pure patchouli that work in unison to uplift the fruity scent to last throughout the day. So whether you’re planning on doing a heavy gym session on Saturday, skipping leg day to sweat it out at Hackney Carnival this Sunday or like me; desperately trying to learn Nicola’s dance routine in Beat of my Drum basically every day – smell fruity doing it.
