If you’re going to do a sneaker collaboration in 2019, you’ve got to make it good. Viivenne Westwood knows this, and so the next chapter of the collaboration with Asics is looking back at that Westwood AW90 (yes, 1990) collection ‘Portrait’ which references paintings from the 18th century French artist François Boucher. Sneakers with depth. The three unisex styles include the Hyper Gel Lyte, which features Boucher’s romantic rococo painting Daphnis & Chloe (1743) printed on the body of the sneaker, with the burnt orange tiger stripe. The ultimate art-school kid sneaker. The Gelsaga is sleek, fresh, clean white leather with the same painting printed on the translucent base of the trainer, keep it low-key. The finale in the lineup, the Gel-DS is the ultimate Viv sneaker, based on the colour palette of the Westwood orb logo with the sky blue orbit in mesh material and pops of red and green against the black suede lined reflective tiger stripe. And of course, Daphnis & Chloe is printed on the insole of the sneaker. The most cultured sneaker. All three colourways feature the orb logo branded on the back of the shoe. Wearing it loud and proud, just how Vivienne like it.
