We love Dinosaur Designs here at Ten Towers. What. A. Family. And we are loving their new Riverstone collection all ovals and fluid OTT designed by the always ingenious Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, which has just dropped at their flagship store in the Strand Arcade.
10: Tell us about the latest collection in three words:
DD: “Bold, stone, landscape.”
10: Resin has always been at the core of what you do. Why are you still drawn to it? And how has it transformed over time?
DD: “Yes resin is the core of Dinosaurs Designs it’s the DNA. We are continuously drawn to resin as it is a lot like paint, which is familiar territory for us. Resin has a viscous fluidity that allows us to cross the boundaries between design, sculpture and painting. The possibilities are endless with resin, we continue to explore and learn more. We have worked with resins for over thirty years now and we still keep discovering new possibilities that keep transforming our vision.”
10: Dinosaur Designs homewares are iconic we think – which pieces do you love most from the homewares collection?
DD: “Earth Salad bowl, Riverstone vase and Mother of Pearl dish.”
10: Nice. Who is exciting you in the art world right now?
DD: “We are excited by our daughter Camille Ormandy. And we have our all-time favourites: Rothko, Cy Twombly and Victor Passmore.”
10: Your first ever store was at the Strand Arcade, best memory?
DD: “The strange moment of opening our first store and standing on the balcony and wondering what happens now? Have we done the right thing? And all of a sudden a customer walks along the balcony enters the store and buys the one thing we’ve had trouble selling wholesale, a resin ring! And we got the feeling that’s it’s going to be OK.”
