In the event that you spent the days following July 4 binge-watching season three of Stranger Things, you can count on Levi’s to remedy any withdrawals. Hot off the back of their latest collaborations with Nike and H&M is their latest work with Netflix’s cult TV Show, just in time for its debut last Thursday too.
Inspired by its characters and created in partnership with the Stranger Things wardrobe team, the collaboration taps the enormous (and enormously enviable) Levi’s archive as they throw it back to the summer of 1985; a time that feels particularly potent considering the brand’s massive imprint on the style and culture of the time. Much like the show itself, Levi’s x Stranger Things perfectly treads the line of 80’s nostalgia, hitting all the right notes with its offering of vintage-inspired tees and sweatshirts, new denim and archival fits. Paired back with the collection tagline ‘Strange looks good on you’ there’s a sense of wanting to embrace our own brand of weird and 34 years on, we can’t help but think that there’s nothing quite like some denim to make you feel like yourself.
Not one to miss a party, 10 was on the ground to celebrate the launch at Melbourne’s newly revamped Geddes Lane Ballroom. Set to a backdrop of sounds by Luke Million, Sydney four-piece I Know Leopard and Ten favourite, Genesis Owusu, the night was navigated through a haze of Stranger Things references like ‘the Upside Down’ and the Byers’ living room, all while getting custom fitted in the new collection. Don’t worry, we captured it for you.
