British ceramicist William De Morgan once famously said: “I don’t want to achieve immortality by being inducted into the Hall of Fame. I want to achieve immortality by not dying.” Well, now he lives on through a new capsule collection by Jonathan Anderson for Loewe. “Each year we have tackled different Arts and Crafts heroes of mine,” says Jonathan Anderson. “For me it was a very natural process to do William De Morgan, he was a big collaborator in the Arts and Crafts movement and a true fantasist in that moment.” The collection celebrates De Morgan’s tile designs and floral arabesques through oversized knitwear; a black leather jacket with the crimson dodo painted onto the back; a peacock-print trench, reminiscent of De Morgan’s drawings of peacock feathers; and big brilliant scarves and beanies amongst other accessories and charms. The peacock feathers and yellow flowers also feature on the Puzzle, Hammock and Gate bags. De Morgan’s hypnotic portal into another world is the perfect slate for J-Dubz to work his crafty magic.
