We love a clever collaboration. Jac+ Jack have collaborated with Australian artist Polly Borland, a Ten favourite, on a series of photographs for Winter 2019. And they’re cozy. The photographs feature classic Jac+ Jack colour palettes knitted into cashmere tubes. Polly got to work, doing what she does best, manipulating and subverting them. “These photos are an extension of my personal work… When Jac and Pat came to me and asked if I’d do something with them and said it could be anything I wanted to do including, not necessarily using their clothing or a conventional fashion shoot, I jumped at this chance,” Polly said. “At one of the first meetings we came up with the idea of abstracted sculpture and I quickly thought we could make sculptural forms by getting a person to pose and create shapes inside tubes of stretchy fabric. Jac came up with the idea of getting their knitting mill in Italy to create seamless cashmere tubes in various colours. A true collaboration.” That’s what we like to hear. “Polly’s work is not only visually appealing as it plays right into my sense of colour, she has an amazing sense of proportion and form,” said Jacqueline Hunt, Design Director. “I love it and I love how visual and considered it is. Her work is suggestive and deeply considered, I find it very inspiring and provocative.” The series appears in a limited edition Zine, available at all Jac+ Jack stores with proceeds going to the Yarrenyty Arltere Artists, an Aboriginal Artists collective in Alice Springs.
