It’s a Gucci inception. Alessandro Michele is taking us back with the new Gucci AW19 campaign, a la Prêt-à-Porter. In the campaign film ’tis a tale as old as time as we see Michele’s Gucci world move from the drawing table to the workshop to the fittings and then, the fabulous salon style show. In the campaign stills, photographed by Glen Luchford, the collection goes on to grace the front of a mock-up Gucci magazine, an ode to 30 years ago when headlines were devoted to ‘must-have hemlines’ and ‘seasonal colour’. Yes, it’s all about the clothes, as it really should be. A whole lot of AW19 madness, the show about appearance and reality that took us into the dark side under bright lights. Nothing to hide under those masks, just a whole lot of Double Gs. Put ’em up. That’s the House of the Double G to you.
