TEN TALKS TO FAYE WEBSTER

|
Written By:

Faye Webster’s fourth studio album ‘I Know I’m Funny haha’ is our reigning record right now, with its clever, strong songwriting and soft, simple beats. Faye glides in and out of each track with an unassuming and disarming sense of self-assurance. We like her style. Receiving wide critical acclaim since its release last month, the album has soared, and made its way into Ten Towers, where we've had it on blast. And we must add, the first track on the record made it onto Obama’s best of 2020 playlist. Iconic! We spoke to Faye about the new era:

You’ve said this record is coming from a less lonely place. What changes have you seen in yourself since Atlanta Millionaires Club? What have you learnt about yourself?

“I’ve learned to take care of myself. I think I’ve just grown in a lot of ways that is hard to pin point but theres definitely been a evolution in me as a human being and as an artist as well.”

How has your music making process evolved?

“I’ve just gotten into a really comfortable routine and feel like I’ve found what works for me and I just keep doing it but doing it in a stronger way every time.”

We love your song 'Cheers'. What were you thinking about when you wrote it?

“Thank you!! I’m not really sure what I was thinking when I wrote it but I was definitely feeling like I was in a happy place with myself. It was also just a really fun song to record so I think a lot of energy got captured in that song.”

What are you passionate about right now? Who are you listening to? What’s inspiring you?

“I’ve been pretty passionate about Pokemon TCG lately. I’ve been listening to a lot of random playlists trying to find something new to be inspired by, but it’s really the little things that will inspire me the most.”

Who would you love to collaborate with?

“I would love to make a song with Blake Mills!”

We love your style. Are there any designers you love?

I really love Dusen Dusen, her clothes make me really happy. Sometimes it’s refreshing to have a lot of colors and patterns since most days I just wear solid colors. I also really like Tyler McGillivary, her clothes are so weird and it makes me smile.

What do you hope people feel when listening to this new album?

“I want them to feel whatever will make them relate. As long as they can do that at some point then I feel very satisfied with this record.”

How do you want us to experience the album?

“Wherever but as long as you are truly listening. I didn’t want this record to just be a background record because I feel like most of the purpose in my music is in my lyrics.”

What does a day in Faye Webster’s life look like in 2021 leading up to an album release?

“Hanging around all day anxiously counting down the hours until my album comes out haha.”
