The year is 2019 and Prada is winning the game. As usual. As the world strives to be woke, Prada are all over it, launching Re-Nylon, a sustainable line of the iconic nylon Prada bag styles using regenerated nylon called ECONYL®. The real deal. Its an evolution of one of Prada’s most loved and celebrated designs and will come in six classic styles including a belt bag, shoulder bag, tote bag, duffel and two backpacks. All materials involved are environmentally friendly, including a unique interpretation of the Prada triangular logo aka the emblem of our life. “This project highlights our continued efforts towards promoting a responsible business,” says Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada Group Head of Marketing and Communication. “This collection will allow us to make our contribution and create products without using new resources.” The stats don’t lie: for for every 10,000 tons of Econyl created, 70,000 barrels of petroleum are saved, reducing carbon emissions by 57,1000 tons. By the end of 2021, Prada aims to convert all virgin nylon into Re-Nylon. It feels good to be a Prada fangirl.
