Acne Studios and Mulberry have collaborated on a collection of leather goods, so sweet they’re wrapped in bows. It’s a collection about friendship and freedom: they’re brands that do what they want to do, says creative director of Acne Studios Jonny Johansson. “It is like a conversation between Acne Studios and Mulberry, one that is founded in mutual respect and a desire to make great product.” Mulberry’s Scotchgrain bags have been reworked by Acne Studios, with new multiple leather buckles and oversized metal hardware in messenger and mini cross-body satchel styles. The chosen colours are that classic soft baby Acne Studios pink and black crocodile print leather. Acne Studios’ Musubi bag, with its signature origami knot is laced through the Mulberry Bayswater, in both deep oak brown, black and pink in regular or micro sizes. We do love a micro. The collection also includes laptop cases, coin purses, zip-around wallets and a lanyard. “There is pure Swedishness and Englishness to the collection that I think twists the look in an interesting way,” says Johansson. “I like how they are practical and you also want to carry them. It feels good to make bags that are desirable and that also have purpose.” The collection is available now.
