Ground control to Montblanc. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the landing on the moon, Montblanc have created a redesign of their legendary StarWalker pen. And who better to celebrate a new fresh, clean design than a former astronaut. Go straight to the source. Collaborating with Chinese-American former astronaut and space station commander Leroy Chiao and Korean illustrator Jaehoon Choi, the ultimate moment of wonder when an astronaut looks back at earth is captured. Chiao has used Montblanc since his student days (a chic student) and was gifted a personalised pen from his wife for his fourth mission. “While orbiting the earth, you realise the majesty of our Blue Planet…home,” he says. “The earth is alive. I deeply understand this looking down on our colourful planet.” His thoughts have been beautifully capture by Choi using the StarWalker, which echoes the aspects of space through its cap and barrel representing the astronaut, the black resin symbolising the expanse of space and the dome portraying the earth rising about the horizon. The pen is available as a Fountain, Ballpoint and Fineliner with a matching notebook and pen pouch, of course. Oh the things we will write with this pen. Out of this world.
