THE NEW DIOR SADDLE BAG IS HERE

Friday 20th July 2018

Saddle up, Tenners, the Saddle Bag is back. Bigger and better. First created by former Creative Director at Dior, John Galliano for the Spring/ Summer 2000 collection it’s making a comeback, this time reinvented by Maria Grazia Chiuri. It was the reigning bag of the early 2000s, the perfect size to swing over the shoulder, a gilded D shining bright. Think Beyoncé in her Crazy In Love moment, Paris Hilton in her prime and SJP in Sex and the City. And as Justin Timberlake once wisely said, “what goes around comes around,” so here we are, re-praising the Saddle Bag, this time coming in a new monochrome leather with ‘70s patchwork as well as an oblique canvas finely beaded and of course the so hot right now monogram. “I thought this collection would be an opportunity to revive its timeless beauty. I consider this icon of the House’s recent history the perfect accessory to deal with this battle that is daily life,” Chirui said. “The Saddle Bag is a bag that is worn in exactly the same way as a shirt or jacket, and it’s so comfortable to wear with its long strap that you almost forget it’s there… also practical because it allows you to carry everything you need with you. It’s for this reason that I wanted it to be larger and more robust, but also very colourful, embroidered or with beaded fringe because, like a chameleon, it adapts to all situations.” There’s apparently nothing this bag can’t do, so we shall carry it every day forevermore to fight all our battles. The perfect armour is always Dior.
