Christopher Esber gets it. Emma Balfour opened the Resort 2018 show, poised, elegantly, so graceful. The woman we all want to be in a collection we all want to wear. That’s exactly what it was. Wearable. Well, you’d hope so. There was a lightness that flowed through the collection, oversize shirts, drop down shoulders, falling, an elegant deconstruction of menswear, softly caught up sides, simple with an asymmetric flounce. The pure joy of Resort. Light lemon dresses and so finely knitted lilac dresses part of a pastel wonderland. These women had swag, getting work done. A toughness with hints of chain and latex lace fish netting and those big buttons. It was cool, collected. Easy. Esber knows what we like, how to give us the good stuff. And we’ll gladly take it.
