THE NEW DIOR HOMME CAMPAIGN STARS THE PET SHOP BOYS

Friday 12th January 2018

Like the wise man he undoubtedly is, Kris Van Assche is milking his ten year birthday celebrations at the House of Dior for all they’re worth. Which is a lot. Van Assche’s tenure has been one of unbridled success, so milk it for all it’s worth, we say. Having previously brought Depeche Mode front man David Gahan in from the cold to star alongside American actor Lucas Hedges for Dior’s AW17 campaign, Van Assche is once again fusing old with new in this last campaign, evoking an unmistakable nostalgia whilst also giving a nod to the next generation. And who better to call upon to summon up a certain fondness of days gone by (other than David Gahan, of course) than the Pet Shop Boys – the synthpop sensation of the 1980’s who, along with Depeche Mode, clearly provided the soundtrack to Van Assche’s halcyon days. Shot by David Sims and styled by Mauricio Nardi, the images, which appear in both B&W and in colour, see double portraits of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe juxtaposed with the more sprightful faces of actor Charlie Plummer, Andreas Wolf, Henry Rausch and Anton Jaeger. Roses appear throughout, both in bunches and as an American Beauty-esque cascade of petals – we’re not sure of their significance but we’ll never say no to a rose.
