THE MET GALA 2018: RED CARPET

Tuesday 8th May 2018

The First Monday in May has arrived. The 2018 Met Gala theme is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. As Madonna says, “Bless yourself and genuflect.” And so we have and short from penning every single biblical cliche in the good book, we would like to say how much fun the whole Met moment has been to watch. We love the “costume” element and the whole undercurrent of papal gold and red in the threads. Loving the wings of Katy Perry, shout out to Versace, and of course Kim Kardashian poured in to her Versace co-designed gown. That Gucci Lana del Rey/Jared Leto moment and Susie and Nick Cave in Gucci – a dream. Those Italians know there catholicism. And Blake Lively in her Christian Louboutin’s (he will be with us next week in Sydney) and how good was Madonna in her Jean Paul Gaultier. Classic. And Naomi Watts perfect in Michael Kors, Rita Ora divine in Prada. Frances McDormand all drama drama in Valentino. Virgil Abloh in an off white, Louis Vuitton first look at his menswear for the house with Kendall Jenner in Off_White pants with their own ‘trains’. And Rooney Mara in Givenchy all controlled glamour. We could go and on but we wont just look at the gallery.  So much here to pour over for days.
